About Us . . .  

GeneaSearch consists of a network of genealogy sites that has grown dramatically since it began in 1999--old by internet standards!   Our mission is to help you utilize the internet in your genealogy research.  You will find databases, free lookups, queries, photos, biographies and many other resources on the GeneaSearch network and as well as links to other sites.  We have many resources to share with you!  We have lots of areas for your submissions to help you connect with other researchers.

We provide a free service to genealogical and historical societies and individuals who publish genealogy books and other resources for sale.   GeneaSearch in no way profits from this service, and the sale is totally between the buyer and seller.  This service is provided to provide a platform for letting visitors know about resources that are available from these non-commercial sources.

While we develop and search out most of the information contained here, much of it is also contributed by our visitors.  It is and will remain totally free, and anything you submit will never be sold to anyone.   You have our word on that.

All information found here is completely free to our visitors for personal use.  It may not be reproduced commercially in any medium without the written consent of the contributor. 

The Name. . . 

Where did we get the name?  It is a combination of two words:

Genealogy + reSearch 

Funding. . . 

GeneaSearch and all our sites are funded by advertising and sales commissions which help cover the cost of hosting, maintenance and development.   All our data and resources are totally free to our visitors, and we do not require subscriptions or ask for donations.   

We never sell any data contributed by our visitors, likewise, we do not sell the email addresses of our contributors or subscribers.  Venture capital and outside investors have never been involved in GeneaSearch, or our other sites.  

 

 

 
 
 
We have an affiliate advertising relationship with major subscription sites including Ancestry, Footnote, World Vital Records, Genealogy Archive, Genealogy Today,  MyTrees, and Genealogy Bank.  We provide links so you can to do searches of these major subscription sites.  The searches can be done for free so you can see if your ancestors might be included on the sites without having to subscribe.   Many of these sites also offer a limited time free trial.  We receive no benefit from the free search or from a free trial sign-up, unless you convert to a paid subscription.  If you subscribe to their paid services or make a purchase from a link on our site, we receive a commission which helps us to continue to provide our data to you for free.
